Thebe the cat

Thebe (the cat) is black (mottled) and fairly small. He was born sometime around July first 2005, Anita and Alan took him and his brother Io home on August 16 2005 [1].

All of Alan and Anita's pets have named that relate to science in some way or another. Thebe is the fourth known moon of Jupiter (Io is the fifth).
